Spotlight on Jenkman, an Auraxian Inspiration

By: Erin Oakley

Jenkman, or Jenk, as people call him, is the leader of JENK SQUAD ALPHA on Connery. In this Player Spotlight, he talks about running an outfit, being called an inspiration, and the transition from “shenanigans” to serious strategy:

Jenkman - May Spotlight

Q: Are you in an outfit? Share the story of how you came to be involved with them.

I started the outfit known as JENK SQUAD ALPHA somewhere late November to early December with a close friend of mine before he was stationed in Germany. Honestly, the reason why it grew so much back then was mostly because I spammed music while leading platoons. If anyone didn't like it, they just left or wised up and turned me down, but for some reason they stuck around. I can see why people talk bad about us, but many converted after a few sessions of playing.

We started out playing for fun (racing, dancing, general shenanigans) and it branched out into finding the best fights and making those epic clutch defenses. We eventually started playing for the alerts also. We gradually grew immunity to being outnumbered and adopted a “never give up, never surrender” mentality towards zergs.

Q: Your fellow Auraxians have labeled you inspiring; what does that mean to you?

Being labeled an inspiration… I don't know about that. I guess I made the right calls during alerts or picking just the right song for an epic 48+ vs 48+ battle only to win it. To me, they were my bread and butter. To win an alert during the afternoon (when NC pop is at its peak) it's a huge morale boost for everyone and all of Vanu plays a little better with a victory under their belt.

Q: What do you like the most about PlanetSide 2?

What I love about this game goes beyond what I've ever played before in terms of scale and strategy. I personally describe it as a combination of chess/boxing; it has FPS and RTS all mixed into one and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And a victory is only a victory until the enemy is no longer willing to fight.

So there you have it: the keys to victory are the willingness to fight against the odds and an epic soundtrack! Look for Jenkman and his fellow Vanu on the battlefields of Auraxis. Not a soldier yet? Enlist today and play for free at
