Client Crashes Update

Before we get into the changes we’re testing and invite you to join us on the PTS, we’d like to provide an update on the current state of client crashes.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent crash survey. Your feedback shows us that a significant number of players are still experiencing crashes. Our internal statistics were showing a more positive picture, so we’ll also be working on improving our crash data collection and analytics tools.

Here’s where we currently stand:

  • Crashes occurring upon switching characters — We still haven’t fixed this issue, but we’ve made some progress in our investigation.

  • Connection issues being perceived as client crashes — We’ve just finished working on a clear message that will be displayed when a connection is lost, including information about the possible cause. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to include this change in the current PTS build. We plan to deploy it to the live servers next week, along with other fixes.

  • Additional GPU diagnostics — We’ve finished implementing additional diagnostic tools for NVIDIA graphics cards. These tools will help us investigate more specific cases that may be related to particular GPUs or driver configurations. The new GPU monitor is included in the PTS build, so we hope to start receiving additional statistics from it during your tests this weekend. If we’re satisfied with its functionality, we’ll deploy it to the live servers next week together with the other fixes.

  • Anti-cheat investigation — At the moment, we still don’t see any evidence in our logs that the anti-cheat system is contributing to the current crash situation. However, we’re currently working on adding clear messages for cases where a player is “kicked by the anti-cheat system.” This will help us distinguish these cases from actual client crashes. At the moment, these cases are not clearly distinguishable to the player.

The crash issue and the overall technical state of the game has been and remains our #1 priority. All of our programmers are currently focused exclusively on addressing these issues.

All of the new mechanics (and returning mechanics) presented below have been implemented by our game designers and do not take our programmers away from their current crash-related work.

New version of Alert - Aerial Anomalies 2.

We’ve received a lot of positive feedback on the Aerial Anomalies Alert, and we’re happy to introduce a new version of the event: Aerial Anomalies 2.0.

In this version, we’ve lowered the altitude of the resource collection points to bring ground-based AA vehicles and MANPADS into the fight alongside aircraft.

This does not mean that we’re planning to completely abandon the original version, which focuses exclusively on aerial combat. For now, we see these as two distinct game modes that we may rotate throughout the year. However, the final decision has not been made yet.

As always, we’ll let your feedback guide us.

Return of Capture Facility Alert

We’ve returned 3 types of Alerts, related to capturing different types of facilities, to the basic Alert rotation:

  • Dome Domination - capture Biolabs, on Indar, Hossin, Amerish

  • Power Rush - capture AMP Stations, on Indar, Hossin, Amerish, Esamir

  • Technological Advancement - capture Tech Plants, on Indar, Hossin, Amerish

In these Alerts you need to capture and hold Alert-related facilities. The first faction, who controls all 3 facilities of the Alert type, will win the Alert and lock the continent.

Upon these Alerts start, the whole continent will be temprorary stabilized, unlocking all facilities.

We’ll be glad to recevie your feedback about the return of these types of Alerts and will consider adding more variety to the basic Alert rotation in order to provide more diverse gameplay.

New Implants

Corrosive Charge - An implant allows the Engineer’s Nano-Repair Grenade to not only repair allied vehicles, but also deal damage to enemy vehicles. At this stage, the effect radius and damage are identical to the grenade’s repair effect.

Selective Nanites - An implant for the Medic class that enhances the Nano-Regen Grenade, allowing it to not only heal allies but also damage enemies. The new effect has the same radius as the grenade and deals 80 fire damage per second.

Both implants are currently in the testing phase and do not yet have unique visual effects or icons.

Your feedback will help us better balance the new implants!

Upcoming survey

We’ll post a survey on Discord next week to collect your feedback on the mechanics we’re testing. Stay tuned! In the meantime, you’re more than welcome to share your feedback in the comments on Discord.
